Welcome back for the 4th Lesson devoted to taking care of yourself!
Sometimes life can get really hectic. Work may be a hassle, there may be personal or family issues to deal with, etc. During these sorts of trying times, it can become extremely difficult to take care of yourself. If you find yourself in such a situation, hopefully, this lesson will be of some use. You are going to find out some easy, but still effective ways to take care of yourself (both mentally and physically) when life gets busy.
Step Away from Social Media
If possible, you should always try to keep away from social media when life is being difficult. Even when you are busy, you would be shocked at how much time you end up wasting on social media (all those 1-minute Twitter sessions add up). Stepping away from social media will not only save you some potentially valuable time, but it also helps you get away from the general toxicity of social media. Who knows, stepping away might help you give social media for good.
Try to Combine Exercise with Other Things
You may not have time to exercise, but you probably have time to exercise while doing other things. There are plenty of exercise routines that you can do while doing other things. For example, need to make some phone calls? Why not take a long walk while doing them? You get things done and you get some exercise, it’s a win-win.
Don’t Be Afraid to Call in Backup
You probably don’t like to be a bother to others, and that’s admirable, but sometimes when life has you down, it is a good idea to swallow your pride and call in some backup. If you need help with kids, don’t be afraid to call in the grandparents. Try asking siblings or close friends for help.
Cook Healthy Meals in Advance
A lot of people resort to unhealthy junk food when life gets really busy, but you don’t need to do that. Cooking healthy meals in advance is both cost-effective and very easy. Pick a day, preferably near the start of the week, and start cooking. Lookup cheap, healthy recipes that you can cook and freeze. Then, during the busy workweek, you simply have to take out the meal, put it in the oven or microwave, and you have a healthy, delicious meal ready to do. Healthy, easy recipes can be found in abundance online to make it even easier.
In the next lesson, we discuss how feeling constantly overwhelmed is a sign you are not getting the self-care you need. See you next week!
