Self-care is extremely important if you want to live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life. However, in all the hustle and bustle of modern life, it can be easy to overlook whether you are taking good care of yourself or not. In this lesson, you will see 5 signs that you aren’t taking care of yourself.
You Are Constantly Sick
One of the clearest signs that you aren’t taking enough care of yourself is that you get sick all the time. Even if your job requires you to be around people (and thus germs) a lot, you still shouldn’t be getting sick all the time. If you are, it is a sign that you aren’t getting enough sleep and that you aren’t taking care of your body (good diet and exercise). Both of these actions will drastically improve your immune system.
You Snap Very Easily
Unless you have a short temper, then constantly snapping very easily is usually a good sign that you are starting to reach your breaking point. Likely causes of constantly being snippy include not getting enough sleep and not taking regular breaks. If you are going through rough periods in your life or if work is just being a hassle, then you need to try and find some time for yourself.
You Need Crutches Like Coffee or Alcohol
A morning cup of coffee or some drinks in the evening is perfectly natural, but if you constantly require these things to get through the day, then something might be wrong. Plenty of people need coffee, but if you need it constantly, then you are probably overly tired and need some rest. Likewise, if you find that you need alcohol to “de-stress” after a long day, then that’s a good sign that you need to find better ways to deal with stress.
You Can’t Be Bothered with Basic Hygiene
Fairly self-explanatory, but if you can’t be bothered to keep up with things like shaving, showering every day or other basic hygiene, then there is a problem that you need to address ASAP.
You Don’t Feel Like Doing Things
If you don’t feel like doing anything with your free time besides sitting on the couch and watching TV, then that is a good sign that you aren’t taking good care of yourself mentally. People who don’t feel like doing fun things are usually either depressed or are just mentally exhausted.
